Blue Lock is a Japanese sports manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on August 1, 2018. An anime television series adaptation by 8bit premiered in October 2022. The story is set in a world where Japan has never won the FIFA World Cup. In order to change this, the Japan Football Association (JFA) creates a new program called Blue Lock. The program is designed to create the world’s greatest egotist striker, someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to score goals. Yoichi Isagi is a high school striker who is invited to participate in Blue Lock. He is a talented player, but he is also hesitant to take risks. In Blue Lock, he will have to learn to be more selfish and aggressive if he wants to succeed.
